Charity Dinner by Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA)
The Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA) is a non- profit organisation which advocates for patients’ rights to a sustainable health care and support system. It also raises the awareness of the general public about the life threatening Lysosomal Storage Diseases. There are about 50 different types of LSD diseases which mostly affect children who often die at a young and unpredictable age, many within a few months or years of birth. Due to the complexity of LSD, patients will require care provided by health care professionals from multiple disciplines and support from various agencies. Access to such medical care and services are hard to come for many LSD patients, causing undue suffering and despair.
SpinForFunD Challenge - A group of BAC College Leo Club students successfully organised the enjoyable SpinForFunD challenge to raise funds and awareness for the children suffering from Lysosomal Storage Diseases [LSD]. The challenge consists of doing 5 star jumps, 5 spins, and trying to walk forwards, whereby one would temporarily feel what patients with LSD go through, as LSD patients suffer ailments such as movement disorders, dizziness, development delay, and other ailments that would not be so easily replicated through this challenge.
